Amparafaravola is a town in the district by the same name with a population in 2001 measured at 47,000. The area is part of the Alaotra-Mangoro Region in the Toamasina province. About 80% of the inhabitants of Amparafaravola town and district make a living from farming. Maise, cassava and especially rice is grown as well as exported.
