Ranohira
Ranohira is a small town in the southern part of Madagascar. The town is located 91 kilometres south of Ihosy along the RN7, which connects the capital of Antananarivo with Tulear.
Ranohira is well known for being "the door to Isalo National Park". Due to its location, the town is an ideal stop-over for visitors of the park. There are several accommodation opportunities in and around Ranohira, ranging from simple rooms to luxurious bungalows or even camping. Entrance permits for the park can be obtained at the Madagascar National Parks office in Ranohira.
The majority of the local population in and around Ranohira are Bara people, which mainly live from cattle racing and agriculture.
The former name for Ranohira was Ambohimahasoa.
