Tour description

Day 1: Antananarivo (Tana) - Majunga (Mahajanga) - Ankarafantsika National Park (L/D)
Leaving Antananarivo and flying to Mahajanga on the northwest coast of Madagascar. From there departure to Ankarafantsika National Park (2.5 hours drive). Arrival at the hotel. When the sun sets, night walk with local guide around the park to search for nocturnal animals including lemurs, frogs, chameleons and geckos.

Day 2: Ankarafantsika National Park (B/L/D)
Day visit to Ankarafantsika National Park. The 130,000ha large park is covered by dry deciduous forest and very rich in wildlife. There are eight species of lemurs living in the park, the diurnal Coquerel's sifaka and Brown lemur, as well as the nocturnal Mongoose lemur, Western woolly lemur (or Avahi), Milne-Edwards's sportive lemur, Fat-tailed dwarf lemur and Grey mouse lemur. It is very hard to find the Golden-brown mouse lemur, one of the world’s smallest primates. This park is also abundant in reptiles, such as the Rhinoceros chameleon with its enlarged nasal, Oustalet's Chameleon (or Malagasy giant chameleon) - one of the world's largest chameleon species, Madagascar giant day gecko, Fish-scale gecko, Plated leaf chameleon, Decary's leaf chameleon, Giant Malagasy hognose snake and Madagascar ground boa.

This region is also very famous for bird watching including the Van Dam's vanga, Rufous vanga, White-headed vanga, Chabert's vanga, Red-tailed vanga, Red-capped coua, Coquerel's coua, Madagascar crested ibis, Madagascar buttonquail, Frances's sparrowhawk and Madagascar sparrowhawk. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Day 3: Ankarafantsika National Park - Majunga (Mahajanga) (B/L/D)



Breakfast and full morning to explore another section of the national park. We go for a boatride on Lake Ravelobe to observe numerous endemic aquatic birds, such as Humblot’s heron, Green-backed heron, Madagascar jacana, ibises, ducks and the famous Madagascar fish eagle. 
Lunch at the hotel and in the afternoon drive to Majunga. We visit majestic baobab trees (Adansonia digitata), one of the seven species which grow on Madagascar, of which six species are endemic to Madagascar. 
Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Majunga. Day 4: Betsiboka - Katsepy (B/L/D)


After breakfast we take the ferry across Betsiboka River to get to the Antrema forest near the village of Katsepy south of Majunga. There we search for the Crowned sifaka, one of the rarest lemurs. During the trip on the river it is possible to observe aquatic bird such as Bernier’s teal and Madagascar sacred ibis. 
Return to the hotel. Lunch and dinner, then overnight in Majunga.

Day 5: Mahajunga - Antananarivo (B/L/D)
Drive back to Tana for about 8 hours. Arrival at the hotel. Dinner and overnight in Tana.

Day 6: Tana - leaving Madagascar


After breakfast transfer to the airport for the flight out of Madagascar. End of our service.
