Antalaha is a popular destination among explorers of the East coast. A long beautiful beach is part of the scenery. The region is regularly affected by seasonal cyclones, with heavy cyclones every few years destroying crops affecting world prices of vanilla.

Antalaha can be reached by land, sea or air. The quickest and maybe most comfortable way is by plane. An airport is located about ten kilometres south of transport the town but which is served only by plane[[Private Charter Flights|private air charters]]. A tarred road in good condition connects Antalaha with [[Sambava]] in the north where the a domestic airport connects with daily flights. There is an International maritime harbour in the centre of town.
