Antalaha is a popular destination by visitors of the East Coast with its long beautiful beach making up part of the scenery. A maritime harbour serves domestic and International shipping routes and a shipyard constructing and repairing traditional wooden dhows can be found along the shore beach at the south end in southern part of the town. Antalaha can be reached by road, sea , or by air. An airport about ten kilometres south of the town is served by [[Private Charter Flights|private air charters]]. A road in good condition connects Antalaha with [[Sambava]] where a domestic airport offers has scheduled flights daily flights from the Capital and other major citiesaround the country.

The 80 kilometres -kilometre drive from Sambava by [[taxi-brousse]] takes about two hours from Sambava. Other more More adventurous routes are a 3-5 day hike across the [[Masoala|Masoala peninsula]] starting from [[Maroantsetra]] or around the peninsula via [[Cap Est]]. It's sometimes also possible to catch a cargo boat from [[Maroantsetra]], [[Sainte Marie]] or [[Toamasina]].

The easiest way to get around the town of Antalaha is by foot, tuk-tuk or [[pousse-pousse]]. The central marketplace of Tanambao is well worth a visit, especially on Thursdays which is the weekly big market day. From there, a A 30 -minute walk to the meteorological station on top of the hiill hill at Ambatoratsy offers a spectacular view stunning views of the town and surrounding landscape.

A recommended activity is a visit to the botanical park of [[Macolline Park|Macolline]] including a short canoe from behind the park on the Ankavia river River to a traditional brick -making facilityis highly recommended.
