Ankavandra is a town and commune in the Miandrivazo district in the Menabe region of Madagasar. In 2001 the population was approximately 11,000. The town itself currently has an estimated population of 5,000.

Ankavandra lies on the Manambolo River and is a starting point for various river tours.

About 50% of the population make their living from fishing, while 25% are farmers and 20% live from rasing zebu and other lifestock. Acriculture and crops include rice, cassava and sugarcane.

A local airport is serviced by Air Madagascar.
