Besalampy is a town and district on the west coast of Madagascar part of the Melaky region in Mahajanga province. The population in 2001 was estaimated at 15,000. About 65% of the inhabitants make a living from farming, 30% raise zebu and other livestock while 5% live from fishing. Agriculture and crops include bananas, oranges and cachou. Besalampy has a harbor and a domestic airport served by Air Madagascar.
