<td>Deciduous tree with a height of 10m to 20m and a diameter of 50cm to 80cm. The crown is somewhat bulky and the branches are rather thick at the end. Dry bark peels of from the green trunk, leaving scars. Yellow brown, reddish wood with darker rings. Smooth, alternating leaves, crowded in clusters on the branches. Lateral nerves are visible on both sides of the leaves. Round, fleshy fruits with stone inside. Endemic to Madagascar.</td>

Leaves opposite, deciduous. There are three or four (3 or 4) pairs of scales stipular base of young twigs. Inflorescence terminal cluster. Small flowers with calyx tubular welded very short and narrow teeth. The lower part of the corolla is cylindrical and close the upper part and enlarged ball-shaped. Flowers grouped in terminal raceme inflorescence. Fruit capsule-shaped, elliptical opening with two valves, seeds surrounded by a membranous wing.
