Tour description
Day 1: Tana - Andasibe (B/L/D)
Breakfast and thereafter departure to Andasibe, 150km east of Tana. The about 3h30 drive takes us through a beautiful landscape of rice paddies and wooded hills. Visit of Peyrieras Reserve on the way. This reserve has a remarkable reptile collection with about 20 species of chameleons, from the largest in the world called the Parson's chameleon of approximately 60cm length to the smallest in the world, the Brookesia minima. There are also amazing colourful frogs such as mantellas and Tomato frogs, geckos, tenrecs, snakes and insects. Continuation to Andasibe and free lunch. At sunset, we go for a night walk in the rainforest to observe the nocturnal fauna: Goodman’s mouse lemur, chameleon… Free dinner and overnight in Andasibe.
Day 2: Andasibe - Mantadia National Park (B/L/D)
Breakfast at the hotel. The day is dedicated to discover the Mantadia National Park, where we can observe the Diademed sifaka and Indri. About one hundred bird species live in this middle altitude rainforest, amongst them the Chabert's vanga and the Brown mesite. With a bit of luck, we will find the big Parson's chameleon and colourful frogs like the Golden mantella. Picnic lunch in the park. Return to the hotel in the afternoon. At sunset, we go for a night walk in the rainforest to observe the nocturnal fauna: Goodman’s mouse lemur or Weasel sportive lemur, chameleon… Return to the hotel and free dinner. Night in Andasibe.
Day 3: Andasibe - Analamazaotra National Park - Tana (B/L/D)
Breakfast at the lodge and full morning visit to the rainforest of Analamazaotra National Park. We can easily observe the larger lemur, the Indri, Grey bamboo lemur or Red-bellied lemur. Return to the lodge and free lunch. Then departure to Tana by car (3h30). Arrival and transfer to the hotel, free dinner. Night in Tana.
Day 4: Tana - Antsirabe - Miandrivazo (B/L/D
)
Breakfast at the hotel and departure to Antsirabe (3h30 drive). Free lunch on the way and then continuation to Miandrivazo (4h30 drive). Arrival at the hotel, free dinner. Night in Miandrivazo.
Day 5: Miandrovazo - Morondava - Marofandilia Private Reserve (B/L/D)
Breakfast at the hotel and departure to Morondava (4h30 drive). Arrival and free lunch in a local restaurant then continuation to Marofandilia Private Reserve (2h of bumpy road). Arrival at the camp. At sunset, we go for a night walk in search for the smallest primate of the world, the Madame Berthe's mouse lemur. There is a possibility that we see the Grey mouse lemur, Red-tailed sportive lemur and Coquerel's giant mouse lemur. Return to the camp and free dinner. Night in Marofandilia.
Day 6:
Marofandilia Private Reserve - Kirindy Private Reserve - Allée de Baobab - Morondava (B/L/D)
Breakfast at the camp and transfer to Kirindy Private Reserve (15min of bumpy road) for a day visit. The dry deciduous forest of Kirindy shelters three baobab species. We can observe the unique predator of the island - the Fossa. Possibility to observe the Verreaux’s sifaka, the Red-fronted brown lemur, Giant jumping rat and tenrecs. The birdlife is also rich with the presence of White-breasted mesite, Blue vanga, Coquerel's coua and Madagascar harrier-hawk. Free lunch at the hotel and departure to Morondava (2h of bumpy road). Visit of the Baobab Amoureux and Allée de Baobab at sunset when the light is best. Then transfer to the hotel, free dinner. Night in Morondava.
Day 7:
Morondava - Tana (B)
Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to the airport for the flight from Morondava to Tana. End of services.
