- Half-day guided tour by mountain bike through the cacao plantations surrounding Ambanja. Discovering spices, such as cacao, coffee, vanilla, black and pink pepper as well as fragrant plants, such as ylang-ylang, vetiver grass, patchouli and combava.
- Guided visit to the Sagi plantations and introduction to various spices and fragrant plants. Lunch at the village of Anjavimilay, which is known for its embroidery crafts. Traditional braiding and facial sessions are offered by the women of the Fivemi Association. Depending on the day of the fady, visit of sacred lake or Mahamanina waterfall.
- Discovering of mangroves and their marine species. Visiting Antsahampano, a former colonial village and port in the midst of mangroves. Depending on the tides, exploring the mangrove mazes by pirogue. Seafood lunch is prepared by the women of the Tsy Kivy Association, followed by traditional singing and dances.
- Visit the Bons Pères cascade and Ambobaka, a village known for its traditional medicine. This tour allows visitors to discover the Upper Sambirano and its huge cacao plantations, rice fields and small villages. Visit the garden of medicinal plants at Ambobaka and learn about the ancestral knowledge exercised by healers using plants and different massage techniques. Canoe ride along the Ramena River. Picnic and swim at the waterfall.
- Bike tour or day's trek along the Sambirano River to Andranomandevy with an overnight stay at Auberge Panoramique "Mahatsinjo", managed by the Toky Miray Association.
- A bike ride to the White heron colony about 20 kilometres from Ambanja close to the village of Andranomandevy can be combined with an approximately 1-hour return boat ride to Ambanja.
- For short stays, a visit to Ambanja will be incomplete without a brief visit to Sambirano. The sandbanks on the left side of the river coming from the central marketplace (Bazary Be) and about one kilometre upstream can, depending on the water level, offer an ideal swimming spot in this beautiful river.
