Morengy means boxing in Malagasy. This is a barenuckle and kickboxing combat. In June and July, the Sakalavas meet for the traditional struggle: The Moraingy. This fight between the members of neighbouring villages is typical in the Bemahara region. The sport is popular in the northern parts of Madagascar, especially around Majunga, Diego, Sambava and Ambanja.
