KOSAMA, short for Kooperative Sambirano Manongalaza, is a cooperative of cacao farmers since 2022.
Alphonse, the President of the cooperative, has a 4ha cacao planting area around KOSAMA's processing facility close to the village of Ambohimena between Ambanja and Ankify. Its members represent planting areas of about 100 hectares in the regions of Ambanja and Sambirano.
KOSAMA's cacao fermentation and drying areas, which are biologically certified, supply cacao beans to artisanal chocolate makers such as Éka Chocolate among other premium bean-to-bar chocolate brands.
The cooperative welcomes visitors who would like to visit a cacao plantation to learn about cacao production.
