Nosy Lonja, or Sugarloaf Island, is a small island in Diego Bay pictured on many postcards and in travel literature. This small island has become a landmark symbolising both the town and the bay of Diego. A picture of the island also appears on the 100 Ariari banknotes. It is considered fady by locals to visit the island as death will occur to those who step ashore, as such, no people live there and no boat transfers are available. One can however admire the view from the safe distance of shore.
Nosy Lonja, a few kilometres from Diego town, along the road towards Ramena Village.
