April 2011: This hotel has unfortunately been closed for the last three month. Reportedly, the owner got into bad dept and the bankruptcy court had to close the hotel down. This is unfortunate as Hotel Eden was arguably the best accommodation in town.
Still the best hotel in the city of Tulear. A restaurant with many green tropical plants in a quiet and comfortable outside area with wooden furniture makes an ideal lunch or dining venue. There is a hotel bar with the obligatory rum assortment (lychee, vanilla, cinnamon...). Rooms have air-conditioning, TV, minibar, safe and bathroom. A fairly run down casino with slot machines is annexed to the hotel.
While the hotel restaurant offers excellent Malagasy food, there's also the option of a nice Italian restaurant and bar across the road.
Airport transfer service is offered to guests at a slightly reduced taxi rate.
