This tour is amongst the best ways to discover Madagascar's animals and cultures - adventures - northeast part of Madagascar. You will never forget this great tour, combining wildlife and adventure, cultures and the amazing RN5 landscape.
Day 1: Antananarivo (D)
Arrival in Antananarivo (known as Tana). Transfer to your hotel near downtown Tana. Rest and recreation to recoup after the long flight. Dinner and overnight at Sole Hotel.
Day 2: Tana to Andasibe (B, L, D)
After breakfast, we depart with your naturalist guide/tour leader and drive through the highland countryside to Andasibe - Mantadia National Park. En route, we'll stop at the La Mandraka Nature Farm; a breeding project for chameleons, reptiles... After lunch en route, we continue on to the Analamazaotra Reserve (Perinet) and check into the Feon' ny Ala Lodge. In the evening, we join our naturalist guide for a walk in the reserve in search of mouse lemurs, frogs, chameleons... Overnight at Feon' ny Ala Lodge.
Day 3: Feon' ny Ala Lodge to Andasibe National Park (B, L, D)
This morning after breakfast, we'll drive to Andasibe National Park, known as the Indri Special Reserve, a park where endemism is particularly high in biodiversity. The park has an interesting interpretation centre at the entrance. The highlights include the Indri indri, Madagascar’s largest lemur species that gives birth in May; Parson's chameleon, amazing bugs, butterflies, lizards and over a hundred species of birds. Our visit allows us to admire Eastern montane rainforest and its epiphyte plants, such as orchids and bird-nest ferns. After our visit we continue to drive down to Tamatave. Overnight at Melvile Hotel.
Day 4: Tamatave - Antanambe (B, L, D)
After breakfast get ready for the RN5 adventure down to Soanierana Ivongo, where we continue by ferry to Antanambe. Enjoy the most beautiful landscape of Madagascar's beaches and costal forest, we can stop anywhere for photos. Overnight in Antanambe.
Day 5: Antanambe - Mananara (B, L, D)
This part of the RN5 with its unbelievable paradise beaches and small villages is named Analanjirofo region (cloves region or capital of cloves - jirofo means cloves in Malagasy). We will also pass coffee drying and beautiful rice fields along the way. We can learn and see the Betsimisaraka culture and adventures. Overnight at Mananara. Option for evening walk for the Aye-aye.
Day 6: Mananara - Maroantsetra (B, L, D)
This is gonna to be your last part of the RN5. Enjoy the last paradise landscape and observe a vanilla plantation. Secondary forest meets the ocean. Ferry crosses, then overnight in Maroantsetra at Coco Beach Hotel or similar.
Day 7: Maroantsetra - Tampolo - Masoala National Park (B, L, D)
After breakfast we get ready for the boat ride to Masoala. Arrival on the Masoala peninsula and thereafter visit to the primary forest in search for Red ruffed lemurs and birds, such as the Helmet vanga. After we enjoyed the Masoala forest we return to the camp site.
