Ambodisakoagna, or Ambodisakoa in short, is a Sakalava village in northwest Madagascar. The name derives from the tropical sakoagna fruit which grows in abundance at this location.
Most of the approximately 400 inhabitants are farmers with cacao being the primary source of cash crop.
During the cacao harvesting months of May, June, July and August, September, there is a cacao market every Sunday.
The village is the location of Ets THEODULE, a cacao cultivator and exporter which provides employment for many of the villagers.
A mixed heritage of cultures and religions with contrasting traditions perfectly co-exists.
During fullmoon periods, at daytime, a traditional Tromba event is usually happening somewhere in the village.
