Nosy Lonja
Nosy Lonja, or Sugarloaf Island, is a small island in Diego Bay featured on numerous postcards and in travel literature. This small island is a landmark symbolising both the town and the bay of Diego Suarez. A picture of the island also appears on the 100 Ariari banknotes.

It is considered fady by the locals to visit the island; it is believed death will occur to those who step ashore, as such, the island remains uninhabited and boat transfers are not available or recommended. One may however admire the view of the island from a safe distance of the shore along Boulebvard Duplex, about 10 minutes drive from Diego town. Note Bleue Park Hotel offers a perfect view from its restaurant and swimming pool area.
