Farafangana is a city on the south-east coast of Madagascar. The city serves as the capital of the Atsimo-Atsinanana region.
There are three main ethnic groups in this area: Antefasy, Rabakara and Zafisoro.
A taxi-brousse from Antananarivo to Farafangana takes about 24 hours.
The position of a river near town leading into the ocean makes the beach and ocean somewhat difficult reach. Attractions close to Farafangana include the Manombo Reserve, Lopary village and Vangaindrano town.
