According to local folklore the lake is haunted by the spirit of a young pregnant woman who once drowned here. Even today it is said she may be seen at dawn, resting on a rock by the lakeside.

Despite a sewage problem, people flock to Lake Andraikiba for a walk around the shoreline or even for a swim.
