Besalampy is a small town and district on the west coast of Madagascar part of the Melaky region inMahajanga province. The population in 2001 the region was estaimated at 15,000in 2001. About 65% of
the inhabitants make a living from farming, 30% raise [[zebu]] and other livestock while
5% live from fishing. Agriculture and crops include bananas, oranges and cachou. Besalampy has a harbor and a domestic airport served by [[Air Madagascar]].
