Ambilobe is a junction town for transport to and from [[Iharana]], [[Sambava]] and other towns along the east coast. Cars travel between Ambilobe and [[Diego Suarez]], [[Iharana]] and the south, direction [[Ambanja]].
[[Albert Zafy]], the president of Madagascar between 1993 until 1996 was born in Ambilobe.
