After about eight kilometres along the RN5a from Sambava, turn left atthe crossroad village of Ambariomihambana where the RN3b to Andapa begins.

Every few kilometres, there are roadside villages and along muchof the way views of the Marojejy massif with its 2,132 metrespeak can be seen.

There are no high standard accommodations untilAndapa where the RN3b route ends.

The Andapa Basin offers many bike and trekking routesin all directions. For example, a 13km return bike ride to [[Ampontsilahy]] is an easy half or one day trip (see [[Andapa to Ampontsilahy by bike|Ampontsilahy]] (15km) where there is . Alternatively, stay at the basic hotel accommodation combined with further trekking on the in [[Ampontsilahy]] and continue by foot along less bikable roads and trails to villages routes at higher elevations are well worth exploring, such as such as to [[Tanambao Andapa|Tanambao]] and [[Tsaramandroso]] and further.
