Dealing directly with the local guides can offer the best value for both visitors and the guides. As the local population become more engaged and relient on ecotourism than farming alone it helps preserve the natural environment of the rainforest. This works when the forest's park boundaries are respected and when the locals avoid overusing nature's precious resources by not unnecessarily clearing land for farming purposes in and around the forested area.
