Antalaha The town is a popular destination among explorers of the East coast. A with a long beautiful beach is making up part of the scenery. The region is regularly affected by seasonal cyclones, which has in previous years wiped out much of the vanilla crops affecting world prices of natural vanilla.

Antalaha can be reached by landroad, sea or by air. The quickest way is by planeair. An airport is located about ten kilometres south of the town but which is served only by [[Private Charter Flights|private air charters]].

A road in good condition connects Antalaha with [[Sambava]] where there is a domestic airport with offers daily flightsfrom the Capital and other major cities. The An 80 kilometres drive by [[taxi-brousse]] from Sambava takes about 1½ hoursfrom Sambava. Other more adventurous routes are a 3-5 day hike across the [[Masoala|Masoala peninsula]] starting from [[Maroantsetra]] or via [[Cap Est]]. There is an International maritime harbour in the centre of town. It's sometimes possible to catch a cargo boat from [[Maroantsetra]], [[Sainte Marie]] or [[Toamasina]].
