There is a maritime harbour and a ship yard constructing boats. The town is a popular destination among explorers of the East coast with a long beautiful beach making up part of the scenery. The Antalaha and the region is regularly affected by seasonal cyclones, which has in previous years wiped out much of the vanilla crops affecting world prices of natural vanilla.
