Antalaha is a seaside town on the Northeast coast of Madagascar. Once the centre of almost all of the world's vanilla trade, several large vanilla exporters are based here with large warehouses. The town's architecture features some ancient wooden houses of likely Creole heritage dating back to the French colonial period.

A maritime harbour serves domestic and International shipping routes and a ship yard constructing and repairing wooden dhows by traditional methods can be found along the shore at south end of the town. Antalaha is a popular destination among visitors to the East coast with its long beautiful beach making up part of the scenery. Antalaha and the region is regularly affected by cyclones, which has every few years years wiped out seasonal crops affecting world vanilla prices.

Antalaha can be reached by road, sea or by air. An airport about ten kilometres south of the town is served by private air charters. A road in good condition connects Antalaha with Sambava where a domestic airport offers daily flights from the Capital and other major cities.

The 80 kilometres drive by taxi-brousse takes about two hours from Sambava. Other more adventurous routes are a 3-5 day hike across the Masoala peninsula starting from Maroantsetra or via Cap Est. It's sometimes possible to catch a cargo boat from Maroantsetra, Sainte Marie or Toamasina.
