Besalampy is a small town and district on the west coast of Madagascar part of the Melaky region in Mahajanga province. The population in the region was estaimated at 15,000 in 2001. About 65% of the inhabitants make a living from farming, 30% raise zebu and other livestock while 5% live from fishing. Agriculture and crops include bananas, oranges and cachou. Besalampy has a harbor and a domestic airport served by Air Madagascar.
