Antalaha is a picturesque seaside town on the Northeast coast of Madagascar. Once the centre of nearly all of the world's vanilla trade, several large vanilla exporters have offices with large warehouses here. Antalaha can be reached by road, sea or by air. An airport about ten kilometres south of the town is served only by private air charters.

A road in good condition connects Antalaha with Sambava where a domestic airport offers daily flights from the Capital and other major cities. An 80 kilometres drive by taxi-brousse takes about 1½ hours from Sambava. Other more adventurous routes are a 3-5 day hike across the Masoala peninsula starting from Maroantsetra or via Cap Est. It's sometimes possible to catch a cargo boat from Maroantsetra, Sainte Marie or Toamasina.
